On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, A&M Premier Roofing and Construction completed its first roof for Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. The roof build begins a new relationship supporting the non-profit whose focus is on providing and advocating for affordable housing for communities throughout the world.
See the press release about the new partnership.
According to the data from Habitat, one in four families in our community lacks access to affordable housing. A&M Premier is committed to helping our communities in need.
Stephen Mull, A&M Premier’s Co-owner, states, “Affordable housing is a critical issue. We’re happy to partner with Habitat For Humanity of Wake County to provide our roofing expertise which helps their efforts in ensuring housing is available for all.”
On the chilliest morning so far (22°f) in Raleigh of 2023, the A&M Premier team joined the construction leaders at Old Pool Place (a neighborhood that will feature 105 constructed homes and townhomes by Habitat) to review the day’s plan to accomplish the build within 4 hours after getting all safety protocols set and checked.
Alexi Velez, A&M Premier’s Production Manager, was dedicated on-site during the complete build. On any given day, Alexi oversees anywhere from 8 to 10 roof builds. He brings a vast amount of roofing experience to A&M Premier and is well-respected by our homeowners who count on his guidance for every step of their build.

With a crew of 6 roofers, the team accomplished a safe and successful build by the afternoon.
“You guys did a great job! Everything looks wonderful. We appreciate the team for being so attentive and communicative with us throughout the day,” shares Ellie Burgess, Habitat For Humanity of Wake County’s Director of Construction Projects.
A&M Premier will complete one more roof by the end of 2023 and is working with the Wake County team for needs in 2024, which may also include repair work.
One key takeaway from our time with Habitat is that when you think of affordable housing, it’s not only new construction and mortgages. It’s keeping people safe in their existing homes. That’s why Habitat offers support for repairs on existing homes, along with a ReStore that provides affordable supplies and furnishings.
Roofs play one of the most significant roles in safeguarding your home from all the elements like fluctuating high and low temperatures, heavy rain, hail, wind, and other damaging effects. If a home is not safe from the outside elements, families are forced to take on overwhelming burdens that are costly and, worse, may even cause them to be displaced if the conditions are unlivable. With less affordable housing in the market, keeping existing homes safe is just as important.
