On May 17, 2023, we awarded their first free roof replacement in Clayton to local Vietnam Veteran Victor Vaccaro and his wife Holley.
Victor Vaccaro
Mr. Vaccaro moved to Clayton, NC., in 2015 from New Jersey after battling cancer and other health issues. He is a proud lifelong member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Local 800. Before his health concerns, Vaccaro was an active volunteer who visited and brought food to other heroes at local Veteran rehabilitation hospitals.
Vaccaro, now 75 years old, says, “I am a disabled Veteran on a fixed income. I bought a house that was rented for years, and there are a lot of things that need work.”
Kenneth Wilkins, training manager at The Butcher’s Market, stopped in and presented a “1st Meal Under Your New Roof Is On Us” $250 gift certificate to the Vaccaros. The Vaccaros couldn’t wait to take advantage of this meal!
It only took A&M Premier one day to replace the Vaccaro’s existing roof. Thanks to their partnership with GAF®, we could cover 100% of the materials and donate labor costs.
NC Roofs for Veterans
“I served 11 years in the Marine Corps, and I’m dedicated to hiring and helping Veterans in any way I can,” shares our co-founder Stephen Mull.
We started NC Roofs for Veterans as a way to celebrate our local vets by gifting deserving Veterans in need a free roof each quarter.
As a Veteran-owned and operated business based in Raleigh, NC., Veterans comprise 75% of our employees. We believe that businesses operated by individuals who have spent years in the military learning valuable skills and techniques can apply it to the roofing industry. This experience level allows them to provide top-notch service and ensures that their client’s roofs are repaired or replaced most efficiently and effectively.
“It’s an honor for my team and I to help a fellow Veteran in need of a new roof. We understand replacing an old roof can be stressful and costly – especially one that’s 26 years old like this one. We’re going to give Mr. Vaccaro the peace of mind he deserves, knowing he and his family are safe and secure under a new roof protected from outside elements,” continues Mulls.
